2024 Africa Travel Indaba to unlock opportunities in the tourism sector
The renowned Africa Travel Indaba takes place in the City from 13 to 16 May. The event was launched recently by Deputy Minister of Tourism Fish Mahlalela, together with the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal Siboniso Duma, and Chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee Councillor Thembo Ntuli.
THEMED ‘Unlocking Opportunities’, the upcoming Africa Travel Indaba is expected to connect the tourism industry with unlimited opportunities. The Indaba is anticipated to be attended by 9 000 delegates from over 25 countries. It takes place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre from 13 to 16 May.
The Indaba was launched recently by Deputy Minister of Tourism Fish Mahlalela, KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Siboniso Duma, and Chairperson of the City’s Economic Development and Planning Committee Councillor Thembo Ntuli. Councillor Ntuli said: “The City’s economy will benefit immensely from hosting this four-day event. Hotel occupancy is expected to be between 85 and 95 percent.
The total expected spending is estimated at R177 million, contributing R439 million to eThekwini’s GDP with 796 jobs to be created.”
