​Centred around the strides made by Charlotte Manyaa Maxeke and to celebrate her life, a Women in Politics empowerment session was held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.

The event resonated with the mantra “Rise up women of eThekwini, rise up women of South Africa, rise up women of Africa”.

The event, held on 15 September, saw discussions focused on unity, support, and women in leadership. The keynote address was given by eThekwini Speaker Weziwe Thusi.

Chairperson of the Governance and Human Capital Committee Councillor Nompumelo Sithole also shared insight on women empowerment. Attendees were treated to performances by artist KCAP and uMaNcobo.
