In preparation for the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) 2021 showcase taking place from 15 to 17 December at the Durban Exhibition Centre, fashion designers eager to participate in the DFF are invited to submit their designs for consideration.
Nonku Mthembu, Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development Deputy Head from the Business Support, Tourism, Markets and Agri-Business Unit said: “The DFF is an excellent platform for fashion designers and others within the fashion value chain to showcase their work as the event attracts industry role players and buyers.”
DESIGNERS INTERESTED IN SHOWCASING THEIR DESIGNS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:
Complete storyboard of their collection/garment samples which will be showcased in the DFF 2021
Proof of residence
CV
Certified ID copy
Submissions must be directed to Nondumiso Mthembu, 7th Floor, Embassy Building, 199 Anton Lembede Street before 12 pm on 19 November.
Mthembu said many fashion designers who previously participated in the programme received exposure, training, and mentorship and are now household names in the industry. She encouraged emerging designers to grab this opportunity.
In preparation for the fashion show, the City concluded the regional model talent search at KwaMashu F Community Hall on 6 November. The model search was hosted in five regions and attracted approximately 1 000 aspirant models.
Mthembu said the results are being finalised with the best candidates participating in the City’s fashion development programme and the DFF.
“Our aim is to develop and provide a platform for aspirant models with no experience to break into the industry. Those selected will be trained to walk the runway and for the industry as a whole,” she concluded.
