Phase two of the R293 Housing Project has commenced following the completion of phase one in December.
Seventeen houses will be built in total as part of the project.

Housing Project is underway and will see 17 houses built in ward 47. This comes as phase one of the project was completed in December last year. Ward 47 Councillor Phiwayinkosi Mdletshe said following the floods last year, funds had to be reallocated to communities severely affected by the floods. 

This resulted in various projects being halted, including the R293 Housing Project. However, the project is back on track, he said. “Phase one of the housing project has been completed in the ward and preparatory work towards completing phase two has begun. Seven houses were built and handed over as part of phase one to residents of
F-Section, KwaMashu,” said Councillor Mdletshe. He said 11 houses have been demolished and work towards rebuilding them has commenced. “We are very excited with the strides made to provide safe housing to residents.
We hope to conclude phase two of the project soon,” he added. 

Other programmes are in the pipeline for the ward around M, L and F-sections. Gabion walls on Mzonjana and Nqala roads will be built, and the maintenance of road infrastructure, including repairing potholes, is planned.
