House handover changes lives

Thandekile Khumalo from Clermont was happy to receive the keys to her new house.

THANDEKILE Khumalo was overcome with joy when she received the keys to her new house from Ward Councillor Masoka Mazibuko. The house handover forms part of an ongoing project to assist residents who were displaced during the storm disaster in 2017. Khumalo said: “My dream to own a house has come true! I have waited a long time for a house, and today it is a reality.

Thank you to the Councillor, eThekwini Municipality and everyone who had a hand on building this house. I am so happy today. My family has beautiful house that we can call ours.” Councillor Mazibuko was delighted to hand over the house to the family. “I am happy to have the honour of handing over this house to the Khumalo family. This is the third house to be handed over to a recipient under this programme.  As government, we are doing our best to deliver efficient service delivery to residents.” She said another house is nearing completion and would be handed over soon. She urged  She encouraged the community to be patient as the project continued.
