Improving health and safety measures for Chatsworth learners
The Area-Based Management Unit hosted a health and safety campaign at Sunbeam Primary School in Croftdene, Chatsworth.
THE Area Based Management (ABM)Unit recently conducted a health and safety programme at Sunbeam Primary School in Croftdene, Chatsworth. The key objective of the programme was to educate learners on keeping a healthy environment, proper hygiene routines, drug awareness, cyberbullying, and road safety, as well as its impact on individuals and families. Stakeholders including the South Durban Basin ABM, Safer Cities, the Metro Police, Environmental Health, and SA Outreach worked together for the programme.
Metro Police Inspector Stallon Aravasundravan addressed activities related to crime, drug abuse, health empowerment and cyberbullying. “We are here to empower you with knowledge about crime. Cyberbullying has become a common crime affecting most people, especially children. It needs to be addressed. You also need to stay away from drugs and other substances and instead, focus on your studies,” said Naidoo. Co-ordinator and facilitator for SA Outreach Tessa Naidoo spoke to the learners on gender-based violence and the dangers of technology.
