Intervention team moves to the central business district
THE City’s multi-disciplinary service delivery intervention team continues to conduct its operations within the central business district. A team was recently at the Joseph Nduli outbound to tackle service delivery challenges in a multi- disciplinary format. This operation was launched by eThekwini City Manager Musa Mbhele with the objective of enhancing integrated service delivery across the units while creating awareness on sustaining the environment.
The programme has yielded positive results as some undocumented foreign nationals who were conducting business were arrested for failure to produce required permits. Linda Mbonambi, Head of ITRUMP Area Based Management said this operation has yielded positive results. He said this approach has led to improved service delivery, cleaner streets, and fruitful community engagements. Using this multidisciplinary format, various areas have been visited where issues of by-law enforcement, conducting building inspections, fixing water leaks, clearing of illegal dumps, and repairing street lights have been undertaken. The City urges residents to report service delivery issues in their areas and encourages community members to take pride in their spaces by keeping public spaces clean. They can do this by avoiding illegal dumping and littering. Residents can report illegal dumping on 031 311 8804 or email dsw@durban.gov.za
