Join the city’s anti-litter campaign

EThekwini Deputy Mayor Councillor Philani Mavundla was joined by different stakeholders for a coastal clean-up at Toti Beach which was part of International Coastal Clean-up Day.

SEVERAL areas across eThekwini have been cleaned thanks to the Spring Cleanup Campaign which was
launched on 30 August by eThekwini Mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda and will run until the end of September.

Stakeholders are urged to join the City’s anti-litter campaign. This change in behaviour, by disposing of waste in bins provided and not on the street, will have a long-lasting impact in achieving a clean and prosperous City. Several clean-ups are planned this week. Residents can join a cleanup in ward 101 from 19 to 23 September. A briefing session will be held at the Amandla Crest Way Sports Ground at 8.30am before the clean-up operation gets underway.

A clean-up is planned for ward 24, Chesterville on 19 and 20 September. The meeting point is Chesterville Extension 1 Sports Grounds. A Spring Clean-up Campaign is planned for Pinetown and Clermont in the Archie Gumede Zone. In Clermont, the clean-up will be held from 20 to 22 September.

The clean-up will be in the Pinetown CBD from 27 to 29 September. Meanwhile, two sites, Nyathi Road and Seadoone, were also handed over by eThekwini Deputy Mayor Councillor Philani Mavundla to two
female entrepreneurs to start a recycling buy back business. Councillor Mavundla was also joined by different stakeholders for a coastal clean-up at Toti Beach which was also part of International Coastal Clean-up Day.
