There was a jubilant atmosphere from the community as the Luganda Community Hall was unveiled.

THE Luganda community was ecstatic when the R12.1 million upgraded Luganda Community Hall was unveiled on 26 June. EThekwini Deputy Mayor Councillor Zandile Myeni together with eThekwini leadership handed over the facility to the community of Ward 13.

The facility will help promote participation in community activities as it has a combination of various amenities to accommodate events. The facility’s amenities include an administrative office, storeroom, kitchen, and toilets. The facility is also accessible to people with disabilities.

The building has an elevated stage area, outdoor areas for community functions, parking, a perimeter security fence, appropriate water related reticulation systems, and landscaping. About 50 employment opportunities were created during the revamping process. Deputy Mayor Myeni said the facility will help to address social ills facing the community.
