Eight houses were handed over by Ward 1 Councillor, who is also the Chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee, Councillor Thembo Ntuli in KwaXimba.
THERE was a jubilant atmosphere when homes were handed over to eight KwaXimba residents by the City. The residents lost their homes during disasters in 2019 and 2020. The Ward 1 Councillor ,who also chairs the Economic Development and Planning Committee, Councillor Thembo Ntuli handed over the units to the jubilant recipients.
Councillor Ntuli acknowledged the delays encountered during the project, but reassured residents of the Municipality’s commitment of completing projects to ensure effective service delivery. “We are making good progress in delivering services. Today we hand over eight new houses to deserving beneficiaries. The project is expected to deliver a total of 34 units upon completion,” said Councillor Ntuli. He emphasised the Municipality’s commitment to fulfilling its promises. “We committed that we were going to build houses for disaster victims and today we delivered on that promise,” he added. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for their new homes. Phumzile Ndwalane, a 44-year-old resident from Othweba, thanked the Municipality for restoring her dignity by providing her with decent shelter.
