President Cyril Ramaphosa officiated the inaugural launch of South Africa’s initial trade shipments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The ceremony took place at the Port of Durban. This followed the 13th AfCFTA Council of Ministers which took place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre on 30 and 31 January.
President Ramaphosa said: “From this quayside, and from ports, airports and border posts across the continent, a new era of growth and prosperity is being born. A great future awaits our continent and its people.”
