New home for partially blind gogo

AFTER years spent living in an unsafe dwelling, a partially blind gogo has received a brand-new home thanks to the City and Councillor Njabulo Ntuli. Councillor Ntuli said 75-year-old Nomusa Ndlovu had a diffi cult time. “The house the family were living in was dilapidated and unsafe. She was kicked out of her previous home by the family of her life partner and was kindly taken in by the Mbewa family.

This family has also provided the site where her new house has been built. She has been accepted as member of their family.” An emotional Ndlovu said words cannot adequately her own home. “For the fi rst time in my life I am sleeping in a house I can call my own. I am grateful to Councillor Ntuli and the Mbewa family for looking after me,” she said. Councillor Ntuli said because Ndlovu does not have an identity document, it made it diffi cult for her to apply for a government pension. Councillor Ntuli also thanked the Mbewa family for stepping up and caring for her.
