Operation Good Hope makes positive impact in Chatsworth

Municipal employees expediated service delivery in Ward 77 as part of Operation Good Hope recently, tackling several service delivery issues.

A TEAM from the Area Based Management (ABM) Unit conducted a cleanup operation in Ward 77, Chatsworth as part of Operation Good Hope recently. As part of the operation, various departments such as the Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit, the Metro Police, Electricity Department, Business Support, Water and Sanitation, Health, the Fire Department, and Roads and Stormwater came together to address service delivery challenges.

This included repairing roads and repairing streetlights. Illegal dumpsites were also cleared. Business inspections were done to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations. Four business owners were fined for non-compliance. ABM Unit Senior Manager Eurakha Singh said the operations tackled service delivery challenges such as illegal dumping, removing illegal water and electricity connections, as well illegal informal trading. “We want to promote community involvement through the operation. By encouraging the community to take ownership of their areas, this will help to keep it clean and curb illegal dumping.”
