Prioritising service delivery in uMgababa

Ward 98 Councillor Arthur Jokweni addressed residents during a Masakhane outreach consultative meeting held in uMgababa.

THE Masakhane outreach programme reached Ward 98, uMgababa on 16 June to address service delivery challenges in the community. This meeting allowed residents to engage directly with various units and departments in the City to ensure their issues would be speedily resolved. Food parcels donated by MTN was also distributed to residents that were affected by tornado.

As part of community involvement to address service delivery concerns, Ward 98 Councillor Arthur Mgobhozi encouraged residents to report service delivery issues, including disaster relief assistance caused by the recent storm, to his office. He said there are 10 water tanks that have been supplied to the community to address water challenges in the area. Five boreholes will be built in the area to argument water supply. Two boreholes have been completed and will be commissioned, while the other three are almost complete. “There are plans to assist residents who were affected by the tornado a few weeks ago.

We are working with stakeholders to provide the necessary assistance.” He said there are plans to bring the Department of Home Affairs truck to the area to provide assistance with lost identity documents, birth certificates and other important documents. Residents were also informed about bursaries, work experience opportunities, learnerships, and apprenticeships that can benefit the youth.
